How can you type French accents for open ended response questions using laptop without number key pad. It works on the PC using alt+key pad, but with the laptop it does not work.

One way to insert foreign characters is to use the Symbol Insertion dialog. Go to the menu "Insert > Symbol..." to bring up the dialog and double-click the foreign character you want to insert.

You can also insert foreign characters using keyboard shortcuts. For accent marks, for example, use the keyboard shortcut CTRL + ' (apostrophe), then the letter you want to have the accent mark.

For a complete list of foreign character keyboard shortcuts, refer to the ExamView Help. Under the category "Getting Started" look in "Navigating the Software" at the topic named "Editing Commands and Shortcuts". You can also search the Help for "foreign characters."
