> Importing ExamView Question Into Blackboard Version 9, Importing

I exported questions from ExamView . ExamView provides the choice of saving in Blackboard 5 or Blackboard6.0+. The file saves as a ZIP file.

Then in Blackboard 9 when I tried to import the file into I received an error message that a fatal error had occurred.

What should I do?

At this time there isn’t a timeline of when the newest version of Blackboard will be on the product roadmap for inclusion for a particular release. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Currently we have exports in ExamView for up to version 7.x of Blackboard.

Blackboard 9 requires some extra files be created because of the way they rewrote the program. Hopefully ExamView programmers will move this up on the wish list. For now the work around is to find someone using Blackboard 8 or earlier and import the exported Exam View file as a Question Pool. Then you can Export the question pool out of Blackboard and import into Version 9. Takes about 3 min a file but it is better than nothing.

Is there any estimated timeline for how long it might take to get a version of ExamView that works with the new Blackboard? I've found a temporary fix (a person in my school district with access to an older version of Blackboard), but I'm just curious as to whether a solution is getting nearer. It's kind of a pain going through a third party!

Thanks!

In ExamView 7, there is an option to export to Blackboard 6.0 and 7.0 and then there is also an option to export to Blackboard 7.1+.

I see that ExamView and Wimba have both updated their software to be compatible with Blackboard. I use both so this is great.

However, regardless of which test generating software I use, I get the same errors:

1. When I import a question pool into the pool bank, Blackboard tells me the operation was a success but the pool doesn't then show up on the list, so I can't access it later.

2. I also tried importing the question bank as a test (rather than a pool). This works fine...the test shows up. BUT...

I then tried to export the test to both my local computer and to the content collection area, and every time I do this the operation times out. I did this hoping that the exported file would be in a format that I could then import as a test pool.

I have tried deleting the test and re-importing it, but this doesn't seem to make any difference in the timing out.

So...any suggestions for what I need to do? Because the same thing is happening with both test generators, I'm wondering if it's an error within Blackboard...

Thanks!

We generally don't support the Blackboard side of things, however, if you give us the Blackboard version number we would be glad to do some testing for you.

We don't currently have support for Blackboard version 9, but we are planning on making it compatible and as of today we do not have a time frame for when this will be available. Thank you!

We recently upgraded to Blackboard 9, but we have access to a Blackboard 5 site as well. We've tried both places and get the same error.

In addition, we've tried using both the latest version of ExamView and using Diploma6 from Wimba to create the questions. Neither system will work.

I'll post a non-copyrighted test question here soon for testing from the ExamView files I have. I've got a few simple math questions that I've written myself that should do the trick.

Thanks...I appreciate any help anyone can provide!
