In ExamView, the "scramble all" is selected.
I import this multiple choice / bimodal (dynamic) test question. When I run this in CPS, the calculation will change when I push the button but the answers are always in the same spot. As in, the answer is always "A." My kids think this is funny. They're all getting great grades now. :) Thanks for any help, Robert |

Found my answer.
I've never heard of the "scramble" variable before. Amazing! |

Here's some additional information for anyone else with the same question.
The Scramble: setting that appears in the lower-right corner of the window when editing a Multiple Choice question in ExamView determines which choices are allowed to be scrambled. By default, Scramble: is set to All which indicates there are no restrictions (i.e., ExamView is free to move any choice to any position). If the question includes choices that should not be moved (e.g., "d. All of the above"), then you would set Scramble to exclude those choices (e.g., Scramble: a-c). To actually cause the choices to be reordered within CPS, you must make the question a dynamic question and set the scramble variable to true via the Edit Algorithm Definitions dialog. Once you've done this, the choices should be reordered each time you calculate new values from within CPS. For additional information about this variable, access the Online Help within ExamView and review the topic entitled "Reserved Variable Names" Attached Image ![]() |
