" Support for Short Answer, Problem, Essay, Case, and Other ExamView question types requires using Moodle 1.7 or newer. Older versions of Moodle will skip these question types. " today - Feb 10, 2009 I using ExamView 6.1 and Moodle 1.9.2 -- exporting from ExamView and getting questions into Moodle was not difficult; however, the essay questions didn't come over. I can't find new material on this post about bringing in essay/short answer/etc. Does anyone have something current to post on this? Thanks! |

Moodle's open source architecture allows it to change and grow quickly so the current Blackboard exports that have been used are being handled through Moodle differently than they were, improving the import outcomes. Our next release will enhance those LMS exports as well.
Blackboard imports ExamView essay questions as short answer questions. Moodle has been flexible in handling the Blackboard package but how it handles specific question formats within the package vary. As the versions stabilize, ExamView will be better able to create a dedicated Moodle export package, however which question types Moodle will allow may change over time. It is likely that the Blackboard package (built with that system's parameters in mind) alters the essay questions so that Moodle cannot recognize them as either short answer or essay. As part of our development cycle, those differences are definitely being studied to create a robust dedicated Moodle export package. The current Blackboard export in ExamView 6 (most recent version 6.2.1) is the only available option to use with Moodle versions. Please feel free to contact us with any additional questions! |
