> Numerical Answers With Negative Signs

Recently, I created a test on operations with integers using variables for each problem. However, responses that have a negative are missed because the negative sign on the keyboard is a hyphen (-) (the "short" dash) but the answer in ExamView has the minus dash (it is longer). How can students type in the correct numerical response using the keyboard?

I just tested using negative integers, and everything worked perfectly. Making symbols variables can do odd things to answers and the way ExamView reads those symbols. We don't troubleshoot issues with dynamic content as the process is extremely complicated. If you call tech support, we can provide you with a manual that may give insight to your issue.

I figured it out. I had the question type incorrect: short answer instead of numeric response. I changed them and all is well now.
